Bradenton Herald: Buchanan hits $3 million in campaign funds

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan’s re-election campaign said Wednesday that it has topped $3 million in contributions.

Donors gave more than $600,000 to the Sarasota Republican’s re-election bid in April, May and June, his campaign manager Joe Gruters said. Combined with earlier contributions, Buchanan has raised more than $3 million in his bid for a second term.

“Congressman Buchanan continues to be humbled by the tremendous grassroots support he has received from people throughout the district,” Gruters said in a news release.

Buchanan will face Democrat Christine Jennings and independents Don Baldauf and Jan Schneider in the November general election.

None of them have released their latest fund-raising totals, as quarterly campaign-finance reports are not due to the Federal Election Commission until Tuesday.
